About joelu
Jose Luis De Asis Jalandoni or “Joe-lu” as fondly called by his friends, was born on April 16, 1960, at Riverside Medical Center, Bacolod City. He is the youngest of the brood of six of Generoso “Oso” Jalandoni and Imelda “Melding” Jalandoni. His father, being a quiet man like his youngest son, passed on to him the lens of raising various hence pets such as dogs, birds, ducks, and fighting cocks. The Jalandoni’s were reared in the Catholic faith and until now very supportive of their parish church. Thus, it was usual for the priest and his entourage to be regular house visitors and take part in significant events in the life of the family.
Joe-lu’s elementary school years were spent in USLS and then later in PAX Academy. His high school years in Planter’s Foundation and college in Silliman University School of Agriculture. It was here that he qualified to be a member of the Basketball Varsity Team.
His love for fixing vehicles and household gadgets he attributes to the technical skills taught to him by his teachers at Planters Foundation in Cubay. His love for birds in their natural habitat he attributes to the late Father Saginsin, a La Carlota parish priest, who taught them how to identify birds calls and how to swim.
He loves doing target shooting and share this past time with his daughter. He also loves to bike long distances and last but not the least, breed fighting cocks.
Joe-lu tied the knot with Erwina Frances Bokingo-Jalandoni, a medical doctor in 1989. They have 2 children. The eldest being Michael Ossie B. Jalandoni, married to Diane Tiffany Du-Jalandoni. Their union recently bore fruit to first grandchild Ella Mei. They are engaged in a business enterprise. The second child is Ireena B. Jalandoni, a medical doctor serving here in La Carlota. Dra. Erwina Frances B. Jalandoni, fondly called “Dra. Wing” by friends and colleagues, served at the City Health Office for 32 years plus in her capacity as Medical Officer and then as City Health Officer until her retirement in 2022.
At the same time Joe-lu served as barangay captain of Brgy. I Poblacion for 2 consecutive terms. The second term he ran unopposed. Then, he proceeded to run as city councilor for 3 consecutive terms ended in July 2022.
The innate love to serve the community, especially the marginalized sector, in the family.
